It’s official! Summer is finally here. After a long winter and wet spring on the East Coast, I am happy to report the forecast calls for bikinis, SPF & margaritas. Summer is definitely my favorite season. I feel most myself and come alive when its warm out and I get a nice lil tan going on. Wether you are going to the topics this summer or are going to be chilling by the pool, I wanted to share with you my 8 Beach Bag Essentials for Summer 2019.
If you know me, you know that I am sucker for beauty products and routines. So it should come as know surprise that I have a whole lineup of things that make my beach experience that much better. From oversized travel towels to clean mineral sunscreens, keep reading to find out my 8 Beach Bag Essentials for Summer 2019.
Skova Travel Towel
I have finally found an oversized travel towel that is not only SUPER cute, it is incredibly functional. In the past, I never would travel with a beach towel. They are quite bulky and would take up too much space in my bag. But sometimes when you’re on a trip, it’s kinda lame to have a small towel to lay out on.
The travel towels from Skova are a perfect item for your beach bag because not only are they large enough for two, they are lightweight, made of quick drying micro fiber and have a no cling surface to help sand slide right off. They have SO many cute styles to choose from and are incredibly well made. This is a Summer 2019 *must have*
**TRANSEAU TRAVEL TIP** Get the Havana Palm print to stay on brand with Room Service & Rosé. We love a good blush pink & palm leaf moment. I am excited to share a code with you for 15% off your first order from Skova.
COOLA Mineral Sunblock Spray SPF 30
This one should come as a no brainer, but you absolutely need a great sunblock in your beach bag. I love the sunshine and enjoy a nice tan (don’t come after me sun police) but I also know the importance of protecting your skin from the suns harmful UV rays. I forgot sunblock one day in Tulum recently when we went out on a boat and I paid the price big time.
Now not just any sunblock will do. It is becoming more and more common knowledge that your average drug store SPF has incredibly harmful chemicals in them. Not just for people, but also for the ocean, coral reefs and marine life.
That is why I love using Coola for my sunblock. They have an incredible mineral based SPF that is organic, cruelty free and does not have any dangerous chemicals in it. All while protecting you from the sun and harmless to the ocean. It is definitely a higher price point than a bottle of Coppertone. But knowing that your skin is your body’s largest organ and absorbs what you put on it, I feel it’s a price worth paying.
Another fun Coola SPF product are their mineral tinted liplux balms. Keeps your lips from getting burnt, hydrated and adds a pop of color that looks great with a tan. (I use the color Tan Line)
Herbivore After Sun Soothing Aloe Mist
When you’re by the pool reading a good English thriller, it can get a bit toasty. And sometimes, I start to feel like I just need a little refresh you know? Before my trip to Tulum in May, I picked up Herbivore’s After Sun Soothing Aloe Mist. This is a clean beauty project featuring ingredients like aloe, mint, lavender and witch hazel to provide instant cooling relief on your face. It is super refreshing weather you have a sunburn or not. Pro tip: keep this bad boy in the fridge for extra cooling effect.
Sunday Forever Coconuts Perfume
To me nothing smells more like vacation than coconut. I love the smell of sea salt in the air and suntan oil coconut. But by choosing clean and fragrance free sunblock, you definitely lose that coconut smell I love. Problem solved! A small indie brand I have loved for years, Sunday Forever, (they make INCREDIBLE kimonos) make a PERFECT smelling coconut perfume.
And let me tell you, I looked for a long time and could never find suntan in a bottle smelling perfume. It was always too fake smelling or not coconut enough. But if you too have been looking for the perfect coconut smell, check out the perfume from Sunday Forever. I have a large bottle but also their little “try me” size that I refill to travel with. They describe this scent as an expensive vacation, so that’s really all you need to know.
Kopari Coconut Deodorant
Let’s keep it going with the coconut theme. I’ve been trying many different natural deodorants over the past several years and many of them have come up short. Sometimes they have things in them that would cause my skin to have an allergic reaction, other ones have super weird consistencies. And lots of them just didn’t work. Obviously natural deodorants are not going to be as effective as your regular ones. But I’ve wanted to switch off of using something on my body that contains things like aluminum and other metals.
For the past six months I have been using Kopari’s Coconut Oil Deodorant and it is the first one I have found success with. It is super clean and not harmful, has a very light coconut vanilla scent, isn’t sticky and actually works!
If you are looking to try a clean deodorant definitely give Kopari’s a go.
Celine Tilda Black Sunglasses Amazon Dupe
Sunglasses are a beach bag essential and don’t need an explanation. Pick out a pair you love and go with your swimsuit. My favorite ride or die sunglasses are the Celine Tilda Sunglasses, which actually seem to no longer be made. That being said, I’ve found a great Celine Tilda Amazon dupe for them and are super affordable. That way if they fall off into the ocean while you’re jet skiing, your heart won’t break in two.
I prefer plastic frames versus metal like aviators for when I know I am going to be swimming. I hate when the nose pieces on aviators get stuck in my hair and pull it out.
French Girl Lumiere Shimmer Oil
This all natural body oil definitely had to be included in my 8 Beach Bag Essentials list. When you’re in the sun and salt water, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated. I love using this Lumiere Bronze shimmer oil by French Girl after my sunblock as settled because the coconut and argan oil hydrate my skin, while the mineral oxides add subtle bronze glow which looks great in a swimsuit. Not a self tanner but a more subtle glow which is something you didn’t know you needed, but definitely do.
No matter what your Summer plans are this season, make sure you are prepared. My 8 Beach Bag Essentials for Summer 2019 are just that; essential. Once you try out an oversized travel towel from Skova, mineral sunblock from Coola and some other favorites, they will become your essentials too.
